The local area offers a wide choice of accommodation types including Wigwams,which are self-catering wooden camping cabins, self-catering cottages, bunkhouse or hostel accommodation plus numerous bed and breakfast establishments along with a choice of hotels.
Strathfillan Wigwams is a well established self-catering business sitting astride the West Highland Way at Auchtertyre Farm offering a choice of Wigwams or Lodges. The Wigwams are a unique holiday or short break experience offering an alternative and low cost option which brings you closer to the great outdoors while staying cosy and comfy. The wigwams are wooden camping cabins with electric lighting and heating with power points for radios etc and no meters. Foam mattresses are provided so you only need to bring sleeping bags/duvets, pillows and towels or you can hire all of these at the reception. The larger wigwams have seating and can sleep up to five people while in the smaller wigwams mattresses are on the floor and can sleep four. There are two facility blocks with toilets, showers and fully equipped kitchens with the larger block also providing a TV lounge. The wigwam site is in a marvellous location on Auchtertyre and the buildings are well spread out over a large area in a very appealing and visitor friendly layout which takes full advantage of the beautiful surroundings.
The lodges are fully self-contained with their own showers, toilets, kitchens and TV. Again they are equipped with foam mattresses so you need to bring your own linen or hire from reception. Strathfillan Wigwams also boasts a Farm Shop, The Trading Post, where a variety of speciality meats including Wild Boar, Bison, Water Buffalo, Ostrich, Kangaroo and Crocodile are available. The Farm Shop also stocks locally produced Beef and Venison along with Lamb & Mutton produced on Auchtertyre. Haggis and award winning Stornoway Black Pudding is also available so make a call, you will not be disappointed.
Self-catering cottages are also available in the area, in the village of Tyndrum and the surrounding locality with many being particularly well appointed and with Visit Scotland accreditation.One of particular interest is a 150 year old cottage in the conservation area at Clifton Tyndrum where much of the traditional appeal has been maintained during tasteful redecoration. There is a Hostel in Crianlarich run by the SYHA with self-catering facilities available to all.
