The Tyndrum and Crianlarich area has a variety of dining options ranging from a la carte restaurant meals to award winning takeaway food but all of the very highest quality using locally sourced produce as far as possible.
For many, a trip to the world famous Drover's Inn is a must, to experience for themselves the atmosphere of this 300 year old Inn where much of the original character of the building is still evident. This ancient drovers inn was originally used by drovers taking cattle from the West Highlands to markets in the Central Belt for selling to lowland farmers for fattening. Rob Roy himself is said to have used the Inn and was directly involved in the cattle droving business in more ways than one. The Inn now serves a traditional Scottish menu to be enjoyed by a roaring log fire in one of two bars. Recently the Drovers Lodge has been opened providing modern restaurant facilities and an alternative menu for todays traveller.
The Old Flax Mill in Glendochart also provides a first class eating experience with a carvery and home made sweets which are a must. Self denial is just not an option!
In Tyndrum you have the choice of an evening meal in the first rate Whytes restaurant or "Paddy's" bar at the Invervey Hotel. Alternatively you can opt for the Real Food Cafe, winners of the 2005 BBC Radio 4 Food & Farming Best Takeaway Award and also the Sea Fish Industry Authority Friers Quality Award. Here you can also enjoy your meal outdoors. The Green Welly Stop also has a restaurant open during the day and also "The Whisky Shop".
Crianlarich offers the Ben More Restaurant and the Rod & Reel both licenced with excellent restaurants. Try both and don't miss out!
Slightly further afield is the Bridge of Orchy Hotel, again with an excellent menu, where meals are available all day providing an ideal stop when exploring the awe inspiring Bridge of Orchy hills.
West of Bridge of Orchy The Inveroran Hotel sits on the West Highland Way and with a secluded location is well worth a visit. Light meals and snacks are served all day but Dinner is the speciality with locally sourced food served in this 19th century inn. The secluded mountain environment allows a real possibility of seeing Red Deer not too far away and many wild birds.
